Interview with Elina Born & Stig Rästa

After an exciting final of Esti Laul, the preliminary round of the Eurovision Song Contest in Estonia, Elina Born Stig & Rästa won with their song Goodbye to yesterday. Not only with many Eurovision fans is the duo favorite but also with the bookmakers the duo are Elina and Stig are standing very high. Elina and Stig join hands and represent Estonia in the Eurovision Song Contest in Vienna.

How do they feel about representing Estonia at the Eurovision song contest? What are their expectations of the Eurovision song contest? On which place do the hope to end up? And what are their thoughts about the Dutch entry for the Eurovision song contest? Showbizznetwork spoke Elina Born & Stig Rästa about their participation in the Eurovision song contest 2015 in Vienna.

How do you feel about representing Estonia at the Eurovision Song Contest?

It is a very proud feeling to be representing Estonia at the Eurovision Song Contest.

Why did you want to participate in the Eurovision Song Contest?

It is such a wide audience for introducing our music.

Why did you decide to represent Estonia with ‘Goodbye to Yesterday’?

Stig: The song was written a couple of years ago and it felt like the right time to take it out of the drawer.

What do you expect from the Eurovision Song Contest?

A lot of people. And also a great experience.

On which place do you hope to end up at the Eurovision Song Contest?

We take one step at a time. We will know about it on the 19th or on the 23rd of May ; )

If you don’t win, who do you think should win?

There are 39 other possibilities... let's see!

How nervous are you for your performance at the European stage?

We are not nervous yet but most probably on the day we have to perform we will have a little nervousness as well. But that is only good.

With the bookmakers you are standing very high, what do you think about it?

It's an honour to know that the song is highly rated.

What do you think about the Dutch entry for the Eurovision Song Contest, Trijntje Oosterhuis?

Unfortunatelt we have not heard the song yet.

For weeks has ‘Goodbye to yesterday’  been standing very high in the charts in Estonia, how special is this?

It is always nice when people like your music.

Elina, in 2013 you  already participated in the preselection’s  of the Eurovision Song Contest with the song 'Enough' but you ended on the eighth place. Why did you think that with Stig you would have a better chance?

Elina: When I first listened to the song I immediately felt that I wanted to perform the song with Stig. I do not know exactly why, but it felt like the right pick.

Stig, you have participated two times in the preselection’s  of the Eurovision Song Contest . Why did you think that with Elina you would have a better chance?

Stig: Actually, I think I have participated 9 times already. I think everything worked out very well this time!
